Steps

01Total Return

Percentage gain/loss from strategy inception. Formula: (Current Value - Initial Capital) / Initial Capital × 100.

02Win Rate

Percentage of profitable trades. Example: 60% win rate = 6 out of 10 trades were profitable. Higher is better, but not the only metric.

03Max Drawdown

Largest peak-to-trough decline. Shows worst-case loss scenario. Lower drawdown = less risk.

04Sharpe Ratio

Risk-adjusted returns. Higher is better. Above 1 is good, above 2 is excellent. Measures return per unit of risk taken.

05Average Trade Duration

How long positions stay open. Day traders: minutes to hours. Swing traders: days to weeks. Aligns with strategy type.

06Profit Factor

Gross profit / Gross loss. Above 1 means profitable overall. Above 1.5 is good, above 2 is excellent.
